【摘要】:Regulationsinsomejurisdictions,suchasCalifornia,limittheconcentrationofbenzeneandtotalaromaticcontentofdenaturedfuelethanolinordertoreducetheozonereactivityandtoxicityofautomotiveevaporativeandexhaustemissions.Resultsfromthistestmethodmaybeusedtoassessproductqualityandtomeetnewfuelregulations.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofbenzeneandtotalaromaticsinfinisheddenaturedfuelethanolbygaschromatography.1.2Totalaromaticsaredeterminedbyaddingtheconcentrationsofbenzene,toluene,ethylbenzene,o-xylene,m-xylene,p-xylene,andC9andheavieraromatics.1.3Thearomatichydrocarbonsareseparatedwithoutinterferencesfromotherhydrocarbonsindenaturedfuelethanol.Nonaromatichydrocarbonshavingboilingpointgreaterthanthatofn-dodecanecancauseinterferenceswiththedeterminationoftheC9andheavieraromatics.FortheC8aromatics,p-xyleneandm-xyleneco-elutewhileethylbenzeneando-xyleneareseparated.TheC9andheavieraromaticsaredeterminedasasinglegroup.1.4Thistestmethodcoversthefollowingconcentrationranges:benzene,0.01to0.06vol%andtotalaromatics,0.25to2.10vol%.1.5Resultsarereportedtothenearest0.01%bymassorliquidvolume.1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationonly;theymaynotbeexactequivalents.1.7Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
