【摘要】:Thispracticeisusefulasascreeningbasisforacceptanceorrejectionoftransparenciesduringmanufacturingsothatunitswithidentifiableflawswillnotbecarriedtofinalinspectionforrejectionatthattime.Thispracticemayalsobeemployedasago-nogotechniqueforacceptanceorrejectionofthefinishedproduct.Thispracticeissimple,inexpensive,andeffective.Flawsidentifiedbythispractice,aswithotheropticalmethods,arelimitedtothosethatproducetemperaturegradientswhenelectricallypowered.Anyothertypeofflaw,suchasminorscratchesparalleltothedirectionofelectricalflow,arenotdetectable.1.1Thispracticecoversastandardprocedurefordetectingflawsintheconductivecoating(heaterelement)bytheobservationofpolarizedlightpatterns.1.2Thispracticeappliestocoatingsonsurfacesofmonolithictransparenciesaswellastocoatingsimbeddedinlaminatedstructures.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecificprecautionarystatementsseeSection6.
